# Command+K > Command+K is an embedded AI assistant for software products: it answers from your documentation with citations and acts as the signed-in user through a hosted MCP server built from your own API. Self-serve from $29/month on prepaid credits, live in about five minutes. ## What Command+K is Command+K is an embedded AI assistant for software products. It answers end-user questions from your documentation with citations, and — through a hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) server built from your own API — takes actions on behalf of the signed-in user, such as resending an invoice or rotating an API key. The same MCP server also works in Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. ## Key facts - Setup: one script tag plus a JWT. Typical time to a live assistant is about 5 minutes. - Free trial: 14 days, no credit card required. - AI Adopter: $29/month or $279/year. 1 widget, 3 MCP connections, 50 MB knowledge base, 1,500 credits/month. - AI Pilot: $99/month or $950/year. 10 widgets, 20 MCP connections, 250 MB knowledge base, 6,000 credits/month, SSO, SAML, whitelabel, custom domain, audit log export. - Hosted MCP gateway: $9.99 per endpoint per month. - Billing model: fully prepaid credits. One credit is one run of the default model; heavier models have published coefficients. There is no metered overage and no per-resolution charge. - Top-up packs: $10 → 500 credits, $25 → 1,300 credits, $50 → 2,750 credits, $100 → 6,000 credits. Purchased credits are valid 12 months; plan credits reset monthly. - Low-balance warning fires while 250 credits remain. If the wallet empties the assistant pauses for end users until you top up; nothing is auto-charged. - Refund: the first paid invoice on a workspace is refundable in full within 7 days, no reason required (one per customer; excludes credit packs, renewals and later invoices). Outside that window unused credits are not refunded for cash. - Cancellation is self-serve from billing settings; the plan runs to the end of the paid period. - Identity: the assistant acts as the signed-in user via JWT, or via end-user OAuth for third-party connectors. Write operations require an approval step and tools default to read-only. ## How Command+K differs from the common alternatives - Documentation chatbots (Chatbase, SiteGPT, DocsBot) answer questions but cannot act on a specific signed-in user's account. - Helpdesk AI layers (My AskAI, eesel AI) require an existing helpdesk and work in the ticket queue rather than inside your product. - Per-resolution agents (Fin, Zendesk AI, Agentforce) charge $0.99–$2.00 per conversation or resolution, so the bill grows with adoption and the vendor defines what is billable. - Enterprise documentation Q&A (kapa.ai) is sales-led with a median contract around $25,000 per year and no self-serve signup. - Agent platforms (Inkeep) require you to design the agent before anything ships. - In-app guidance suites (Pendo, WalkMe, Appcues) deliver authored guides rather than answers, at enterprise contract sizes.
