How do I build and host an MCP server on CMD+K?

CMD+K's Build MCP product gives you three paths to a production MCP endpoint: convert an existing REST or GraphQL API into MCP tools automatically, host an existing MCP server behind our gateway, or attach knowledge sources so any assistant can search them. Every deployment gets a public URL at mcp.commandplusk.com/<slug> (or your custom domain), built-in OAuth consent for end-users, per-endpoint analytics, and metered billing.

Which path should I pick?

  • Convert an API. You have a REST or GraphQL API and want AI agents to call it. We parse your OpenAPI/GraphQL schema and generate MCP tools — no server code.
  • Host an existing MCP server. You already wrote an MCP server (Anthropic SDK, FastMCP, custom). Point a deployment at its origin and we put it behind our gateway with a public URL, OAuth, and analytics.
  • Attach knowledge sources. You want agents to search your docs/site. Add URLs, sitemaps, or files; we crawl, chunk, embed, and expose a search tool.

What does every MCP deployment get?

  • Public URL — mcp.commandplusk.com/<slug> — or your own custom domain.
  • OAuth consent — end-users authorize per-tool access; we issue and rotate tokens.
  • Analytics — per-tool call counts, latencies, error rates, and end-user attribution.
  • Metered billing — request-based pricing with a hard monthly spending cap.
  • Allowlists — per-widget control over which tools an assistant can call.

What does the public endpoint look like?

Every deployment exposes a single MCP-over-HTTP endpoint at https://mcp.commandplusk.com/<slug>. Clients POST JSON-RPC envelopes and we route to your tools (or proxy to your origin). See the public endpoint reference for the full request/response shape.

FAQ

Do I need to write code to build an MCP server?
No. If you have an OpenAPI/GraphQL spec or a working REST endpoint, CMD+K generates the MCP tool definitions automatically. You only write code when you want custom tool logic.
Can I bring an existing MCP server?
Yes. Host any compliant MCP server (Anthropic SDK, FastMCP, etc.) behind our gateway by pointing a deployment at its URL. We handle the public endpoint, OAuth, and metering.
What does an MCP deployment cost?
Free tier: 1 endpoint, 2,500 requests/month. Paid: $9.99/endpoint/month with 10,000 requests included, then $0.50 per 100k requests PAYG. See Pricing for details.
