What is the Monetize module?

Monetize is an optional CMD+K module that forwards your widget's AI usage to your own billing system (Stripe Meter Events today; Polar and Lago on the roadmap) so you can resell AI capacity to your end-users. It lets you mark up tokens, set per-user spending caps, and view margin reports — all without holding any end-user funds yourself. Monetize is a flat $99/month add-on, independent of your widget plan.

Who is Monetize for?

  • Operators reselling AI features inside an existing SaaS subscription.
  • Agencies running CMD+K assistants on behalf of clients with usage-based pricing.
  • Platforms that want metered AI billing without building a metering pipeline.

What does Monetize add?

  • Meter forwarding — every widget interaction emits a meter event to your Stripe meter ID, with retry and dead-letter queue.
  • Per-user caps — block a user once they exceed your configured monthly spend, same gate as MCP cap_action=block.
  • Margin reports — cost vs. revenue per assistant and per end-user, exportable as CSV.
  • Observability — logs of every forward attempt, including failures and DLQ entries.

Business model: Model B only

CMD+K never holds end-user funds. We don't run Stripe Connect, we are not a Merchant of Record, and we don't run a PayFac. You bill your end-users directly with your own merchant account; we only push meter events. This keeps your compliance surface small and keeps the Monetize module a flat $99/month — no take-rate.

FAQ

Does Monetize handle end-user payments?
No. You connect your own billing destination (Stripe today) and CMD+K only forwards meter events. End-users pay you directly through your existing subscription or invoice flow.
Is BYOK supported?
No. After our pricing audit we removed BYOK to keep cost reporting reliable. All AI calls go through CMD+K's managed AI Gateway with verified per-model prices.
Can I see my margin?
Yes. The Monetize dashboard shows cost-of-goods (what we charged you) vs. revenue-recognized (what you billed your end-users) per assistant and per end-user.
